High-speed chase ends with 'stunning' arrest at 'yellow mall'

      A high-speed chase on Interstate 85 during the busy Black Friday morning rush hour reportedly led to a shocking experience for a Mauldin man when he was captured at Prime Outlets - Gaffney.

POLICE REPORT
      The Gaffney Police Department is investigating a reported assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature that occurred Nov. 21. A 48-year-old Camellia Circle man told police his ex-girlfriend, a 42-year-old city woman, tried to run him over with her car on Martin Luther King Jr. Street at about 10 p.m.

Chinese could be the next foreign language offered at Gaffney High School

      Shortly after becoming Gaffney High valedictorian, Peter Johnson participated in Furman's inaugural Summer China Experience program. The 2005 trip was part of an academic program at Furman to encourage incoming freshmen to learn more about the world's most populated country. The university paid the costs of the students' transportation, lodging and meals.

     During Thanksgiving break, Michelle Dennis and Blaine Lowry visited the Robins Nest Children's Home in Montego Bay, Jamaica, to do mission work at the children's home. They took a little time off to visit the stunning Dunn Falls before returning to the University of South Carolina and Clemson. Swofford and Vivian Swofford, and the late Leonard and Margie Huffstetler. Rev. J.W. Sanders still going strong after 60 years at Bethel

      Rev. J.W. Sanders Sr. was already a minister at 19 when he answered a call to become the pastor at a fledgling church in Gaffney. In April of 2009, Sanders will celebrate his 60th anniversary as pastor at Bethel Baptist Church.

Jazz singer to perform after tree lighting

      Martha Bassett sits on the corner of the music universe where traditional country songs meet jazz and Christmas music. Bassett has drawn her influences from performers and musical styles, ranging from country music legend Hank Williams to jazz and swing. She will present a mixture of these music styles at her Dec. 5 concert in the newly renovated Capri Theater in Gaffney.

'Good Samaritans' provide food for residents
