WHAT'S UP

Meetings

Gaffney Masonic Lodge No. 186 meets on the second Tuesday every month at the Masonic Lodge at 219 E. Floyd Baker Blvd. A meal is served at 6:45 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

Classes

Upstate Carolina Medical Center offers free prepared childbirth classes on the second Tuesday of each month from 6-8 p.m. in the hospital's classroom. The classes are taught by a certified childbirth educator. For more information or register, call 864-487-1588.

Support groups

AA meetings are held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the building behind Limestone Methodist Church on Carlisle Street. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend.

Special events

Eggers Funeral Homes of Chesnee and Boiling Springs will host their seventh annual Holiday Remembrance Service on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home in Chesnee.

The U.S. Marine Corps League and Reserves are collecting toys and funds for its Toys for Tots program. The Broad River Leathernecks Marine Detachment, the Cherokee County unit, has placed collection boxes and containers in various locations. All funds and toys will go to help the needy in Cherokee County. For more information, 864-489-6636.

The annual Broad River Baptist Association's Candlelight Tour of Churches will be held Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, Central Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. The first tour will begin at 6 p.m.
