Legalize marijuana

LETTER

Dear Gaffney Ledger:

Sen. William Mescher (R-Berkley Co.) has introduced S.220, a compassionate bill that will allow patients with cancer, multiple sclerosis, severe pain, and other serious illnesses to use marijuana with their doctors' approval.

I personally have known of more than one person to use and see benefits of cannabis that other drugs could not accomplish. My best friend as a child was diagnosed with colon cancer. After his chemotherapy, he would be deathly sick. Cannabis helped him maintain his weight and helped his spend him remaining days in less pain.

I'm still not convinced that it should be legalized for recreation, but there are many people that would benefit from this, and it will not hurt anyone.

South Carolina is a great state and I'm proud to be a part of it, but to deny our brothers and sisters of a harmless medicine that can help so many is crazy. With everyone's help it is possible to help the many people in need of an alternative.

Please consider joining the struggle to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes. Thank You, Corey Simpson, A concerned citizen
