Kids! Have breakfast with Santa on Dec. 6 The Cherokee County Junior Woman's Club, in partnership with several community sponsors, will sponsor its inaugural Breakfast with Santa fundraiser benefit Saturday, Dec. 6, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Southside Baptist Church family life center. All proceeds from the benefit will go toward the club's school closet, which aids needy local children throughout the year with clothing and other immediate needs. There are a limited number of tickets available and none will be sold at the door. Tickets are $7 each and can be purchased from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Southside Baptist Church family life center and from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, at Gaffney City Hall (second floor) during Christmas on Limestone. Admission includes a pancake breakfast, plenty of facetime with Santa Claus, a reading of "The Polar Express" and an opportunity to write a letter to Santa and send it directly to the North Pole. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras to capture special moments. In addition, there are lots of surprises in store for the little, and not so little, ones. "We have every intention of making this an annual event," said Lynne Shackleford, president of the non-profit organization. "The club's members felt like this was a great opportunity to start a new community tradition while raising funds for our school closet. We're hopeful this event will continue to grow and we're all so very excited. We've had wonderful response from community sponsors, even during such tough economic times, and we're hoping for strong ticket sales." Breakfast with Santa begins at 8:30 a.m., but guests are invited to come anytime between then and 10:30 a.m. Club members wish to extend their sincere appreciation to our community sponsors, Southside Baptist Church, Terry Holcombe, Dennis Ramsey, Scott Ramsey and Kelly Little, The Gaffney Ledger and If It's Paper," Shackleford said. The Cherokee County Junior Woman's Club is a non-profit organization comprised of women dedicated to serving the community through volunteerism and club service projects. |
