Mrs. Joyce Marilyn Gilley Phillips, 78, of 273 Green Acres Road, Gaffney formerly of 260 Quinnís Trail in Cowpens passed away Thursday night, Nov. 27, at her residence.

She was the widow of the late Charlie Wellford Phillips and was born in Molino, Florida to the late Thomas Clive and Either Barnhill Gilley.

Phillips was of the Baptist Faith and was retired from the Hoechst-Celanese Corporation after 14 years of service in the Draw-Twisting Department.

Surviving are five daughters, Wanda Sue Holcombe of Gaffney, South Carolina, Sally Anita Dale and Peggy Joyce Woods of Cowpens, South Carolina, Debra Renee Bonifay of Panama City, Florida, and Belva Dean Godfrey of Palmer, Maine; three sons, Gregory W. Irwin, Sr. of Cowpens, South Carolina, Leon Alto Irwin, Jr. of Gaffney, South Carolina, and Richard Charles Gilley of Hartsville, Ga; 20 grandchildren and numerous Great-Grandchildren. Also surviving a sister, Isabel Dowson of Milton, Florida and four brothers, Jerry Gilley of Surprise, Arizona, Bill Gilley of Cordes Lakes, Arizona, Jim Gilley of Henderson, Tennessee, and Everette Gilley of Cantonment, Florida; and a close friend and neighbor Tim Parks of Cowpens, South Carolina. She was preceded in death, in addition to her mother, father, and husband, by one daughter, Cathy Ann Doolittle of Beach Island, South Carolina and one son, Thomas Clive Irwin of the home.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Phillips will be held Monday, December 1 at 2 p.m. at the Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Cowpens, conducted by Dr. Robert Kirby, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Garrick W. Irwin, Gregory W. Irwin Jr., Billy L. Irwin, Leon A. Irwin III, and Timothy W. Parks, with Ben Godfrey serving as an Honorary Pallbearer.

Mrs. Phillips will lie-instate at the Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel, 986 Chesnee Highway, Gaffney, from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1.

The family will be at their respective residences.
