Merdis Annie Morris Westmoreland

BLACKSBURG— Merdis Annie Morris Westmoreland, 75, of 202 West Carolina Street Apartment C12, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Spartanburg Restorative Care.

Born in Snake Bite, N.C., Mrs. Westmoreland was the wife of the late John Franklin Westmoreland and the daughter of the late Janie Morris. She worked as a cloth cutter and was a member of New Song Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Westmoreland are two sons, Thomas Earl Morris of Ahoskie, N.C. and Joseph David Westmoreland of Blacksburg; one daughter, Betty Martin of Blacksburg; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Westmoreland was preceded in death by a grandson, Lamar Westmoreland.

The family will host a receiving of friends Friday evening from 5 until 7 at Gordon Mortuary. A memorial service will immediately follow at 7 in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Bolin and Rev. Terrell Dillingham officiating.

The family will be at their respective homes.
