Raymond Eugene Morgan

Raymond Euegene Morgan, 42, of 122 Hughey Lake Road in Blacksburg, passed on Monday morning, Dec. 8. 2008, at 5:40 a.m. at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.

The son of Beatrice Morgan Mickles and the late L.B. Black, and stepson of John Mickles Sr., Morgan was born on July 17, 1966 in Cherokee County.

He was a member of Youngs Grove Baptist Church. He was also a former employee of Brown/Williamson Tobacco Company in Blacksburg and was last employed at Watts Fence Company.

In addition to his mother and stepfather, Morgan is survived by his daughter, Baby Cierra Floree Morgan of Blacksburg; five brothers, Jackie Morgan of the home, John Mickles Jr. (Ruby), Jerry Mickles (Dagmar), Spencer Leach (Andrea) and Jeremy Peeler, all of Gaffney; four aunts, Dr. Ruby Miller and Molene Smith, both of Shelby, Sallie Houey of Gaffney and Meredith McEachern of Greensboro, N.C.; three uncles, John Byers of Lancaster, Horace Miller and William Smith, both of Shelby; three great aunts, Mickey T. Corry and Roberta Thompson, both of Blacskburg, and Christine Thompson of Gaffney; two great uncles, Dennis Corry and Abbie Thompson, both of Blacksburg; a special friend, Sheray Childers of Blacksburg; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 12 at 3 p.m. at Youngs Grove Baptist Church with the Dr. Larry J. Brooks, Dr. Ruby Miller, the Rev. Nellie Shears and Dr. Michael Huff officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

He will lie in state at 2 p.m. until the hour of the service. The family will receive friends for an hour before the service.

Honorary flower bearers will be Mary Ross, Catherine Tate, Angela Maria Allen, Renae Deal, Reshana Thompson and Ann Moore. Active flower bearers will be Courtney Burris, Amanda Childers, Tammy Childers Keysha Burris, Kellee Deal and Denise Glymph.

Honoraray pall bearers will be Wendell Sutson, Bridges (Tank) Camp, Travis Burris, Bobbie Rawlison, Fred Parker and Scott Burris. Active pall bearers will be Anthony Wood, Tim (Moose) Jefferies, Stephen D. Corry, Bernard (Foot) Hames, Randy Watkins and Joseph Deal.

Foster Funeral Home of Gaffney is in charge of arrangements.
