7 Indians selected to all-region team

At 6-4 and more than 330 pounds, Gaffney's Denzelle Good is used to standing out. But he has plenty of company on the all-region team announced Tuesday.

Good, who has verbally committed to North Carolina State and has been picked to play in the Shrine Bowl, is among seven Indians selected to the first team.

Linebacker John Michaels, wide receiver Emison Hughes, defensive back Stephon Adams, defensive lineman Stan Easterling, center Tommy Strickland and defensive lineman Darius Dawkins also were selected to the all-region team.

Both Michaels and Hughes will participate in Saturday's North-South All-Star game.

Four more Indians were named honorable mention, including linebacker Quincy Jackson, wide receivers Jeff Brown and Joe Craig and offensive lineman Don Manning.

Region champion Northwestern,which lost to South Pointe in Saturday's Class AAAA Division II title game, had the most selections with 10, including player of the year Jarrett Neely.

Northwestern's Jimmy Wallace was named the coach of the year.

The Trojans also had four honorable mention selections.

Clover, which finished second in Region III-4A, tied the Indians with seven firstteam selections.

York had four players selected to the first team, while the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets had three and Nation Ford had two.
