Lights go out briefly About 2,500 Board of Public Works customers were without power briefly on Thursday afternoon due to a problem with a substation. Board of Public Works General Manager Donnie Hardin said a loss of power in one of Duke Energy's two transmission lines was the reason for the outage. Hardin said power was restored by switching the affected Suez Street substation customers to the Board's Willow Street substation. Hardin said the outage affected customers from Hwy. 105 to near Floyd Baker Boulevard. According to Hardin, electricity was out at Timken and Nestle manufacturing plants, as well. Hardin said all the power was restored in about 30 minutes. |
