Buford Street Chancel Choir presents 'Tidings of Great Joy'

The Chancel Choir of Buford Street United Methodist Church will present a Christmas cantata, Tidings of Great Joy, by Robert Hebble on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m.

Music director Nancy Brown will play the organ with Justin Addington, former Buford Street music director, as guest conductor. Other accompanists will be Dr. David Thompson, pianist, and a special guest harpist.

Bob Everett will narrate the program as the biblical character, Simeon. Gina Poovey is guest soloist for the finale, "O Holy Night."

The choir includes Ruby Travers, Rene Wyatt, Vickie Cornmesser, Irene Wood, Sheila Smoke, Jane Harmon, Susan Parris, Becky McCraw, soprano; Mary Nell Barrett, Alice Nance, Sue Gaffney, Kristen Smalley, Donna Kelly and Tedi Gibbons, alto; Clyde Burch, Evan Goetz, Phil Gibbons and Freddie Harmon, tenor; A.L. Curtis, Mike Teague, Mike Martin, Eric Smalley and Bob Everett, bass.
