POLICE REPORT The Gaffney Police Department is on the lookout for a clothes thief. According to a report, about $150 in clothing was stolen from a washing machine at a West Buford Street apartment complex Nov. 26 between 3:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. A Greenville woman using the restroom at the Prime Outlets — Gaffney was the target of a purse snatching Dec. 5. According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, the woman went into the restroom near the food court at the outlet mall at about 1:50 p.m. on Dec. 5. While the woman was in a stall at the end of the restroom facility, someone reached under the stall, grabbed her purse and fled. The woman lost a black leather Coach-brand handbag and all of its contents, which included: $300 cash, two Blackberry flip phones, an Apple iPod Touch handheld music player, a Casio camera and a pink makeup bag. The total value of the purse and contents is estimated at $1,600. The Gaffney Police Department is investigating an assault that occurred in a South Oliver Street parking lot Dec. 8. According to a police report, a 23-year-old man was going to visit a woman at an apartment complex in the 500 block when he was attacked in the parking lot by two unknown men, one of whom cut the victim with a knife. The victim sustained a cut on his left forearm and on his chin during the incident. About $700 in electronics were reported stolen following the discovery of a burglary on Woodland Drive, according to the Gaffney Police Department. Police wrote in a report that someone threw a rock through a patio door window to gain access to the residence in the 200 block. A Playstation 3 video game system and several games were stolen. Police said they lifted two fingerprints from the scene as part of their investigation. Almost $1,000 in tools and personal possessions were stolen from a storage unit on West Floyd Baker Boulevard. According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone drilled out a lock to gain entry to a storage unit at 1100 W. Floyd Baker Blvd. between Dec. 1 and Dec. 8. A black tool box with miscellaneous tools, two porcelain dolls each standing about three-feet tall, and Teahouse Rose china plates were missing. Police said they recovered a shoe print from the crime scene. A laptop computer, jewelry and change were stolen from a Barclay Avenue home during a Dec. 6 burglary. According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department, someone gained entry to the home in the 400 block through a window. A Compaq laptop computer, a silver ring and $50 in change was taken from the home. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the following burglaries of sheds and outbuildings in recent days: Between Nov. 20 and Dec. 8, someone broke into an outbuilding in the 300 block of North Green River Road by cutting off the lock. The thief or thieves stole assorted Craftsman wrenches valued at $85. Between Nov. 24 and Dec. 8, someone cut the locks off an outbuilding in the 2200 block of Overbrook Drive. A tool box containing miscellaneous tools and two chains saws valued at a combined $950 were taken. Between Nov. 1 and Dec. 7, someone broke the lock off an outbuilding in the 200 block of North Green River Road and stole a General 5,000 watt generator, two Ingersoll-Rand 1/2 inch impact wrenches, two Ingersoll-Rand 3/8 inch impact wrenches, an air chisel and air die cutter, and assorted wrenches, sockets and screwdrivers. The tools and generator had a combined estimated value of $2,800. A generator valued at $700 was reported stolen from a Cherokee Ridge Drive home following the discovery of a burglary Dec. 8. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's office, someone entered the residence in the 100 block between Dec. 5 and Dec. 8. The only thing reported missing was a Kohler-brand generator. Three guns and two digital cameras were reported stolen from an Old Buffalo Church Road home in Blacksburg following the discovery of a burglary on Dec. 8. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone broke into the residence in the 100 block between 7 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. and took a Remington Model 710 rifle chambered for the 30.06 cartridge, a CVA Optima muzzleloader rifle, and a .22-caliber pistol. The thief or thieves also took a Cannon A560 digital camera and a Nikon camera. The stolen items have a combined value of about $2,000. An East Frederick Street woman was ticketed for cruelty to animals Dec. 6 after she allegedly tossed a dog from a second-floor balcony. According to a report at the Gaffney Police Department made public Dec. 10, an officer went to 501 E. Frederick St. on Dec. 6 and was told Gloria Littlejohn, 59, had gotten mad and thrown her small dog from the balcony. The officer wrote that the small, tan-colored dog had difficulty walking and could not put pressure on its back legs when he observed it. The officer wrote he spoke with several people who said the dog fell about 18-feet and struck a metal handrail on the staircase before hitting the floor of the first level. A man raking leaves near a White Oak Drive apartment building found a gun Dec. 8. According to the Gaffney Police Department, the .22- caliber Iver Johnson Model 55 revolver was discovered at about 9 a.m. near 100 White Oak Drive under leaves. The gun was taken to police headquarters. Almost $2,500 in property was stolen from a storage building on North Logan Street, according to the Gaffney Police Department. Someone cut the lock of the storage building in the 900 block between Dec. 8 and Dec. 9, police said. A hand truck, a furniture dolly, a stair dolly, golf clubs and an engine lift were missing. Other items were likely missing, too, police were told, but an inventory had not yet been conducted. A vehicle was reported stolen from Debra Drive on Dec. 9. According to the Gaffney Police Department, a pewtercolored Nissan Altima was taken from a driveway in the 300 block between 7:45 p.m. Dec. 8 and 7:40 a.m. Dec. 9. The car is valued at $10,000. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the recovery of a stolen vehicle in the McKowns Mountain area. According to a police report, an officer found on Dec. 9 a 1997 Honda reported stolen from Blacksburg. The vehicle was located about 200 feet off Sardis Road in a wooded area. The vehicle was up on blocks and was missing its wheels. The hood was opened and it appeared the engine had been tampered with, police said. About $4,000 in tools and equipment were stolen from an Oak Ridge Road workshop. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's office, someone entered the workshop in the 600 block between 9:40 a.m. Dec. 7 and 2 p.m. Dec. 9 and took a tool box, a chain saw, a Mig welder, and pneumatic tools. |
