POLICE REPORT The Gaffney Police Department reported the arrest of a toy store worker on a breach of trust charge after she and another person allegedly were caught trying to get $441 in merchandise out the toy store's door without paying. According to a police report, an officer received a call Dec. 12 from a manager at the KB Toy Store at Prime Outlets — Gaffney and subsequently confronted Linda Vance, 47, of Mill Stone Road, an assistant manager at the store after her alleged accomplice Lynn Hutchings, 49, of Mill Stone Road, began to leave the store with merchandise. Hutchings allegedly told the officer that Vance had called her to pick up the merchandise. Vance allegedly told the officer that the items were rung up on the register but a check of the register tape revealed no sales. The officer reported that both Vance and Hutchings were charged with breach of trust and placed on trespass notice from the entire outlet mall property at the request of mall security. The Gaffney Police Department was asked to investigate a report that a ring stolen from an Elm Street home last October ended up as another woman's engagement ring. According to a police report, an Elm Street resident complained that a gold, ovalshaped ring with a diamond was taken from her residence between Oct. 20 and Oct. 31. A man who had been working at the woman's house during that time period recently gave his girlfriend an engagement ring that matched the description of the missing ring, the Elm Street woman told police. The ring is valued at $200. A Pipeline Drive man is missing two hearing aids after someone entered his parked vehicle last week. Some time between 6:30 p.m. Dec. 8 and 11:30 a.m. Dec. 11, someone entered the man's car as it was parked. The two hearing aids missing from the car are valued at $1,604, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. An all-terrain-vehicle was reported stolen from a Possum Trot Road home in Blacksburg on Dec. 12. The red 2005 Suzuki Ozark was taken from a carport in the 1500 block between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. It is valued at $5,500. The following burglaries were reported by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and Gaffney Police Department in recent days: — At least four storage units at a 184 Peachoid Road storage center were broken into between Nov. 22 and Dec. 14. According to a police report, about $1,790 in household items were missing from a unit rented by a Fawnhurst Drive woman; about $720 in electronics were taken from a unit rented by a Cherokee National Highway woman; and about $125 in tools and reloading equipment were taken from a unit rented by a Pleasant Meadows Drive man. Nothing was reported missing from a fourth unit that was entered. The padlocks on all four units were cut off. — Between Dec. 6 and Dec. 13, someone entered a storage building in the 100 block of Brookshire Drive. An industrial strength Troy Built 3,500 psi pressure washer and a Craftsman chainsaw were stolen. Theft losses are estimated at $1,100 . — Between 5 p.m. Dec. 12 and 12 p.m. Dec. 13, someone forced entry to an outbuilding and storage trailer owned by Freeman Gas in the 3800 block of Cherokee Avenue. A riding lawn mower, a push mower, a weed trimmer and five rolls of copper valued at a combined $2,450 were taken. — Between 1 p.m . and 2:20 p.m. Dec. 13, someone forced entry to a home in the 1000 block of Asbury Road by breaking a door. Nothing appeared missing from the home and there was no estimate on the damage. — On Dec. 13 around 8:30 p.m., someone targeted two apartments in the 400 block of Lockhart Lane. One apartment sustained $250 in damage but no entry was made. The second apartment was entered, resulting in about $150 in damage, but nothing appeared missing, according to police reports. — Between 5:30 p.m. Dec. 13 and 4 p.m. Dec. 14, someone entered a residence in the 1100 block of Piedmont Road in Chesnee. A Compaq laptop computer and a computer modem, valued at a combined $400, were taken. — Between 10 p.m. Dec. 13 and 10 a.m. Dec. 14, someone entered a storage building in the 300 block of Holly Ridge Road and stole two chainsaws, two weed trimmers and two hedge trimmers valued at a combined $600. — Between 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Dec. 14, someone forced entry to a home in the 1200 block of Bridges Road in Blacksburg. About $200 in damage was reported but nothing appeared to be missing. — Between 8:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 15, someone forced open a door to a home in the 700 block of Corinth Road. About $2,000 in jewelry, $470 in electronics, $125 in clothing and a $50 gift card were missing. — On Dec. 15 someone entered a utility room at a home in the 100 block of Spring Valley Road and stole a paint sprayer valued at $500. — Between 12 p.m. and 12:13 p.m. on Dec. 13, someone forced entry to a home in the 900 block of Beech Street, according to the Gaffney Police Department. The burglar( s) rummaged through drawers and closets but nothing appeared missing. Breakin damage is estimated at $150. |
