Gaffney grapplers hold on for win over Yellow Jackets

      Gaffney's wrestling match against T.L. Hanna came down to this on Monday: Randy Hopson needed a victory to seal a win for the Indians. Hopson did just that with a secondperiod pin after falling behind 6-2. The pin gave the Indians a 41-35 victory.

      Indian jayvees crush Bulldogs, 71-33 The Gaffney ninth-grade boys basketball team improved to 2-1 with a 65-47 victory over Byrnes on Monday. Ron Best and Russell Hughes each scored 14 points to pace the Indians. "It was a total team effort and everybody contributed," Gaffney coach Phillip McHam said.

      The Gaffney Lady Indians waved good-bye to their season-opening three-game win streak on Monday. Erin Frost scored 17 points as the Byrnes Lady Rebels went on a 11-2 fourth-quarter spurt to beat the Lady Indians, 58-54.
