Dear Editor:

Here is my sincere thank-you to the Cherokee County Council for their NO landfill vote!

They did the right thing.

We have a lot of natural beauty in our county and I would hate to see it permanently marred by creating a super dump for trash generated from outside — even from neighbors like Spartanburg and Charlotte, to say nothing of many more distant cities.

Generally, it is best for people to dispose of trash locally, avoiding a super mountain of trash and to keep the pressure on other counties and its citizens to recycle in a responsible manner.

The fight isn't over because 3Cycle and their supporters in CASE are very tenacious. The harder they fight, the more likely this is a bad deal for us, no question.
