POLICE REPORT
A 17-year-old suffered an injury to his eye when he fell victim to a strongarm robbery and group assault on Dec. 15, according to a report at the Gaffney Police Department.
According to a police report, the teen was a patron at a store in the 300 block of East Frederick Street on Dec. 15 at about 6:30 p.m. when a man saw him pay for his purchases and place $160 back in his pocket. The teen told police the man approached him outside the store and asked to speak with him. The suspect then struck the teen in the face with something that was cold and hard, knocking him to the ground. Two other men then approached and began to kick him. The teen said the robbers stole his jacket, $160 in cash, and a pre-paid cell phone. The teen suffered a concussion and was taken for treatment. The report was filed Dec. 17.
Two employees of Wal- Mart on West Floyd Baker Boulevard were charged last week in unrelated arrest warrants with breach of trust.
Kimberly Danielle Watts, 30, of Watts Drive, was charged with breach of trust greater than $1,000 in a warrant served on Dec. 19, while Janie M. Williams, 20, of Turkey Farm Road, was charged with breach of trust less than $1,000 in a separate warrant served Dec. 19.
According to one police report, Watts allegedly was caught on surveillance cameras removing $100 in cash from the store and she allegedly wrote a statement for store officials and police in which she admitted that she had been giving away merchandise during the past three months by skip-scanning at the register. Watts allegedly told a Gaffney City police officer that the value of the items lost by Wal- Mart was about $2,000.
The $100 in cash taken from the store had belonged to a customer who requested cash back with a purchase but left the store without the money.
In a second police report, a Wal Mart loss prevention officer told Gaffney Police that Williams allegedly was skipscanning items for other employees and customers and also was overriding prices for about three people on the cash register.
The value of the lost merchandise in that case was estimated at $200
A vehicle parked on Isabel Drive in Gaffney sustained about $400 in damage Dec. 16.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone shot the front window of a vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block.
The gunshot appeared to be of small caliber.
A 54-year-old Gaffney man suffered a swollen and bruised face Dec. 18 when he was attacked and robbed by a group of men on Robert's Alley.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, a Marion Avenue resident was walking home at about 2:30 a.m. when three or four unidentified men attacked him and took $15 from his wallet.
The victim couldn't provide police with full descriptions of his attackers.
