Supervisor in textile industry

Berl Dean Byars, 68, of 116 Amity Drive, passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at his home.

A native of Cherokee County, he was born in Blacksburg and was the son of the late Lunie Pennington Byars and Berl Byars.

He was the husband of Christine Pender Byars and a

U S. Navy veteran.

He was a supervisor

in the textile industry.

Also surviving are a daughter, Summer Satterfield of Spartanburg; three sons, Danny Ray Byars of Blacksburg, Roger Dean Byars of Cowpens and Johnathan McKitrick of Gaffney; a sister, Louise Wisher of Blacksburg; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Byars was preceded in death by a son, James Bryson Byars.

Graveside services will be held Monday, Dec. 22, at noon in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11-11:45 a.m. at Shuford- Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel at Frederick Memorial Gardens prior to the service.

The family is at the home, 126 Amity Drive.
