Manuel Etters White

Retired insurance agent

Manuel Etters White, 82, formerly of 207 Pinewood Drive, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at Woodruff Manor.

A native of Gaffney, he was the son of the late David P. White and Rena Martin White and husband of 44 years to the late Carma Johnson White who passed away in 1992.

Mr. White was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a retired

insurance agent and

a U.S. Navy veteran

of World War II, having served in the Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Tripoli. He was a lifetime member of the Elk's Lodge and VFW.

Surviving are a son, Scott M. White and wife, Avis, of Greenville; a daughter, Starr W. Seay and husband, Roy, of Spartanburg; a brother, Furman White and wife, Ellen, of Lexington; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by a sister, Thora W. Parris.

Services will be held Monday, Dec. 22, at 3:30 p.m. in Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by Bishop Manfield Martin. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:30 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
