Indians advance to title game

Josh Corry led six Indians in double figures with 25 points as Gaffney dominated from start to finish in a 107-38 victory in the first round of the Sub Station II Holiday Tournament.
Gaffney faces Chesnee, a 54-50 winner over first-round opponent Spartanburg Christian, today at 7:30 p.m. for the tournament championship.
The outmanned Wolverines didn't hit a field goal until the 4:30 mark of the first quarter. By that time the Indians already enjoyed a 12-0 lead.
Chase Smith's layup extended the Indians' lead to 19-2 on their way to a 28-6 cushion at the end of the first quarter.
"Woodruff was just outmanned," Gaffney coach Mark Huff said. "They had some kids quit. But the game gave us the chance to play everybody."
Jeff Brown and Chase Smith each added 12 points and a trio of Indians added 11, including Eric Fearn, Dershawn Dawkins and Kris Brown.
Anthony Thompson had 10 to lead the Wolverines, who fall to 0-6.
Things didn't get any better for Woodruff in the second quarter. as Corry hit a couple of 3- pointers to push the Indians' lead to 38-10 with 3:44 left before halftime.
Dawkins' steal and layup made it 51-13 at intermission.
In the third quarter, Smith and Corry hit 3s to build the advantage to 82-24.
Huff said he's expecting a sterner test from Chesnee today. The Eagles showed their tenacity by battling back from a 14-point deficit.
"We just have to come out and play hard because they are very athletic and we know if There would be no late-game rally for the Bulldogs this time as the Indians jumped to an 11-point, second quarter lead. The Indians held that double-digit lead at the break and were never threatened in the second half.
Brown had 22 points to lead the Indians. Corry added 17 and Smith had 13 for Gaffney.
