Lady Indians improve to 4-1 with win over Boiling Springs

By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Sports Editor larry@gaffneyledger.com

Kierra Phillips was too much for Boiling Springs to handle on Friday.

Phillips finished with 21 points and Keisha Leach added 14 to lead Gaffney to a 48-39 win and season sweep over the visiting Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Indians jumped to a 4-point lead at the end of the first quarter and extended their advantage to 20-14 at the break.

The scoring pace picked up in the third quarter, as both teams nearly equalled their first-half output.

But the Lady Indians still held a 35-31 edge at the end of the third quarter. The Lady Indians outscored the visitors, 13-8, over the final quarter to earn the victory.

Gaffney, which is now 4-1, will return to the court Friday in the first round of the Lady Hilltoppers tournament in Forest City, N.C.
