Breakfast with Santa event raises more than $1,500

Dear Editor:

On behalf of the Cherokee County Junior Woman's Club, I extend our deepest appreciation to our inaugural Breakfast with Santa sponsors, guests and others responsible for the event's success.

Together, we raised more than $1,500 that will go toward the club's school closet fund to purchase coats, shoes and other necessities for local children in need throughout the year.

Breakfast with Santa was a huge success, not only from a fundraising standpoint, but from the community service aspect evident from the smiles and comments we received from those families who attended.

Despite our best efforts, we will inevitably forget to thank someone who deserves it, but we would be remiss if we didn't publicly show our sincere appreciation for those who helped us pull off the event.

Thanks to our sponsors: Hamrick's Kids, Grady and Mary Randolph, Buford Street Drugs and ACE Hardware, Clear-View Window Tinting, Medicine Mart, Scott Auton Painting Company, Upstate Carolina Medical Center, Baby Fifty-Four, Bedenbaugh Chiropractic Clinic, Brian and Karen Denton, Caroline Hamrick, CWS Insurance Agency, Glenn London Realty, Harvey Peeler's Farm, J. Michael's Catering, Jeremy and Callie Smith, Lynn and Debbi Powell, Gaffney Mayor Henry Jolly, The Skin Philosophy and Wal-Mart.

In addition, we owe a great debt to Kelly Little, Dennis Ramsey, Scott Ramsey, Johnny Little, John Crocker and David Wells, who prepared the pancakes and sausage; Southside Baptist Church for graciously allowing us to use their Family Life Center and Rev. Wofford Caughman for the many unselfish hours he spent helping us with preparations; Terry Holcombe; If It's Paper and The Gaffney Ledger.

Also, Jeff Turner, Mark Robertson, Kevin Sullivan, Mike Dover and Jon Shackleford provided much-needed lifting, moving and pulling during the weekend.

Thank you all for enabling us to live up to our motto: Striving for a Better Tomorrow.

Sincerely yours, Lynne Shackleford

President 2008-09

Gaffney, S.C.
