WHAT'S UP Christmas services The Episcopal Church of the Incarnation on College Drive will hold special Christmas Eve services at 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. Limestone Presbyterian Church will hold its annual candlelight Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. with special music and readings by members of the congregation. The church is located on Limestone Street across from Buford Street Drugs. A combined Christmas service will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church on Christmas morning at 10. Joining Ebenezer will be Pine Grove, Galilee, Youngs Grove, Mt. Tabor and New Mt. Zion. The Rev. Roger Mason of New Mt. Zion will deliver the Christmas message. The community is invited to attend. The doors to Limestone College's Camp-Swofford Chapel will open to an altar surrounded by red poinsettias at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, welcoming you into a joyous worship service at Circle of Grace Lutheran. The service will tell the Christmas story through a series of lessons and carols. The nativity accounts will be punctuated by the congregation singing traditional carols of Christmas. The service will conclude with worshippers lighting hand candles as they sing "Silent Night." The public is invited to participate. Circle of Grace is located at 1116 College Drive. Christmas worship services will be held Thursday, Dec. 25, at 8 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 218 Dr. L.M. Rosemond Lane. Everyone welcome. Holiday hours The Cherokee County Public Library in Gaffney and the Blacksburg Library will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Saturday, Dec. 27, and reopen on Monday, Dec. 29, at 9 a.m. Iron City Ministries in Blacksburg will be closed Dec. 19- Jan. 4 and reopen on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009. Fund raiser Too many toys around the house? Do you need a good thinning out? PeachCenter Ministries will be accepting good clean used toys Sunday, Dec. 28, at Southside Baptist Church from 5- 7 p.m. You can also stay for the Joann Harrison Memorial Concert that starts at 5 p.m. in the Family Life Center at Southside. Several area churches are taking part in the program. There will be stews and hot dogs to enjoy for a donation. All proceeds will go to PeachCenter Ministries. In addition to cash contributions and toys, food items, clothes and baby items may be donated. Brookview Healthcare Center is selling a cookbook of its residents' and staff's favorite recipes, "From Our Family to Yours." The cookbook has over 350 recipes and is $10, with all profits going toward supporting special events at the facility.
