School tradition ensures 81 kids will have merry Christmas

      The Christmas holiday is often filled with activity while community members work to spread love, peace and good will to the less fortunate. These ideals have been practiced by Santa's helpers at Luther Vaughan Elementary every year since 1998.

      Almost $4,000 in cash and checks were reported stolen from a delivery truck while it was making a stop on South Logan Street on Dec. 18. According to the Gaffney Police Department, the driver of a General Wholesale truck stopped at 406 S. Logan St. on Dec. 18 at about 12:10 p.m.

Use of a recreational fishing registry delayed

      WASHINGTON (AP) Recreational saltwater anglers who were supposed to register with the federal government by January are off the hook for a year. After reviewing nearly 500 comments on its proposed registry, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced Tuesday that the registration requirement will be delayed until Jan. 1, 2010.
