Martha Sue Hayes
Worked in textiles for most of her life
Martha Sue Cash Hayes, 71, of 105 Catherine St., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at her residence. Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Newton Loran and the late Myrtle Painter Cash. Ms. Hayes worked in textiles for most of her life and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are a daughter, Donna Hayes Mahaffee of Gaffney; a son, Larry Hayes of Taylors; a granddaughter, Shannon Rae Mahaffey; a sister, Betty Benton of Gaffney; and a brother, Richard Cash of Hutchinson, Kansas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wayne Hayes; and two sisters, Vivian Lorene Stapleton and Frances Williams. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 2 p.m. in Oakland Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Travis Blackwell. Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 23, from 5-7 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home at Frederick Memorial Gardens. The family is at the residence.
