He's Good ... really good

Gaffney lineman earns All-state recognition
By JOE L. HUGHES II Ledger Staff Writer joe@gaffneyledger.com

GOOD GOOD Gaffney offensive lineman Denzelle Good stood taller than competition on the field, helping lead Indian running backs through opposing defenses on a weekly basis.

Now, less than a week after participating in the annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas all-star game, Good is now among elite company with the South Carolina's best football players.

The standout lineman was named to the 2008 Associated Press all-state team.

Good anchored a young offensive line for Gaffney this year, helping the team to a 7-6 season and a trip to the playoffs.

Already considered one of the state's premier offensive linemen, Good committed to North Carolina State prior to the 2008 season.

Some of the names listed beside Good on this year's all-state team may be quite familiar to the 6-foot-6 lineman.

Byrnes and South Pointe led the way on this year's list, with both schools having

three of their key contributors recognized among the state's elite players. Star running back Marcus Lattimore leads the way for the Rebels, followed by defensive lineman Brandon Willis and defensive back Walt Canty. Meanwhile, three of

Class 4A Division II champion South Pointe's key players were included on the list, including South Carolina-bound Stephon Gilmore, Harold White and Devonte Holloman.

Dorman also was rewarded for its 13-1 season in 2008, with Brandon Thomas and Walt Canty being named to the allstate squad.
