Meetings

Gaffney Masonic Lodge No. 186 meets on the second Tuesday every month at the Masonic Lodge located at 219 E. Floyd Baker Blvd. A meal is served at 6:45 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

Notices

Iron City Ministries in Blacksburg will be closed Jan. 5-9 and reopen Jan. 12. Normal hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.- noon.

The City of Gaffney Sanitation Department will observe Thursday, Jan. 1, as a holiday. Thursday's route will be picked up Wednesday, Dec. 31; carts should be on the curbside by 7 a.m. on Dec. 31.

Church news

A Premillennial Bible Conference will be held Jan. 5-9, 2009, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church. The theme is "Staying Straight on the Second Coming."

Events for seniors

Senior Centers of Cherokee County will be offering classes based on the Arthritis Foundation exercise program on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Jan. 6. The program will run for eight weeks. This non-clinical group exercise is designed to help those who have joint or muscle problems achieve improved joint mobility, muscle strength and endurance, helping them to improve performance during daily activities. The program consists of exercise, health education, movement activities and relaxation exercise. For more information, call 864-487-2725.

A Chronic Disease Living Well Program will be offered to those who have a chronic disease but are not educated about their illness. The classes will start Jan. 7, running every Wednesday for six weeks, and will be held at the Blacksburg Senior Center on Pine Street. Anyone is interested in these classes may call 864-487- 2725.
