Edgar Ellis Westmoreland, 70, of 439 Edgewater Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at 809 Waters St., Shelby, N.C.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Mary Grant Westmoreland and son of the late William Scott Westmoreland and Mary Jane Carroll Westmoreland. He was retired from Overnite/UPS as a supervisor and attended Park Hills

Baptist Church. He

was an amateur

Cherokee County Ham Radio Operator, an avid fisherman and loved the beach. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Wendy Westmoreland of Shelby, Tabatha Coyle and husband, Floyd, of Gaffney, Jan Moody of Spartanburg and Kim Baine and husband, Chris, of Kentucky; five grandchildren, Keely Coyle, Dustin Coyle, Autumn Kizora, Dylan Baine and Josie Baine; one great-grandchild, Rainy Kizora; three brothers, Bob Westmoreland and wife, Anita, of Blacksburg, Larry Westmoreland of Blacksburg and Dean Westmoreland of Gaffney; and three sisters, Doris Boheler of Smyrna, Betty Jo Hardin of Antioch, S.C., and Maxine Deaton of York.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carnell Westmoreland and William Westmoreland, and three sisters, Ruby Martin, Faye Westmoreland and Gaynell Westmoreland.

Services will be held Friday, Jan. 2, at 3 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Larry Sanders and Terry Floyd officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Crocker, Alvin Henry, Floyd Coyle, Robbie (Cotton) Guthrie, Chris Baine and Dustin Coyle.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Horn, Bobby Eubanks, Jimmy Painter and the Spartanburg County EMS.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 1, from 6- 8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
