Mom says daughter disappears in boyfriend's SUV
By SCOTT POWELL Ledger Staff Writer spowell@gaffneyledger.com

Rhonda White is shown in this February 2005 photo with her son Mitchell and a friend. White went missing over the past weekend and hasn't been seen since Friday afternoon.
A Gaffney woman hopes her 41- year-old daughter's recent disappearance is just like the other times she has gone missing.

Rhonda Jan White of Blacksburg has been missing since she borrowed her boyfriend J.J. Hansil's sport utility vehicle in Gastonia on Jan. 4 at 1 p.m. to drive to her job at the Rochling plant in Duncan, said Shirley D. White, Rhonda's mother. Rochling supplies auto parts for the BMW plant in Greer.

Rhonda has long blond hair. She is 5 foot 3 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds.

Shirley said she last saw her daughter on New Year's Eve at Shirley's house in the Grassy Pond area with Hansil.

"Her boss called Friday evening around 8 p.m. when she didn't show up for work," Shirley said. "When her boss called again on Saturday, we became concerned. No one in our family has heard from her. She has been missing before. This is the first time she has been missing this long."

Rhonda was driving a 4-door, gold and tan 2003 Trail Blazer the last time she was seen, Shirley said. The vehicle has a sunroof with a rebel flag decal and a bumper sticker on the back that reads, "Drive it like you stole it."

Hansil has filed a missing person's report in North Carolina and had her name listed on a nationwide missing person's registry.

"J.J. isn't worried about his vehicle. He's worried about her," Shirley said.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Rhonda White is asked to call the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office at 864-489-4722.
