Gene Wilson
Former independent business consultant

William Gene Wilson, 77, of 251 Phillips Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Born in Shelby, N.C., he was the husband of Linda Pence Wilson. He was a former independent business consultant and was a Mason and a Shriner. A graduate of Ford High School in Laurens, Spartanburg Methodist College and Howard Payne College, he worked with the Boys Home of the South with Marvin Murphy in the early years.

Mr. Wilson was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Limestone Street United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William Wilson Jr. of Tennessee and Matthew Wilson of Easley; a daughter, Gelene McCullom of Easley; a step-son, Michael Shaw and wife, Mandy, of Inman; a step-daughter, Tisha Thompson of Gaffney; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 2-3 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 3 p.m. with the Revs. Ron Singleton and Jack Phillips officiating. Entombment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Limestone College, 1115 College Drive, Gaffney, S.C. 29340; or Limestone Street United Methodist Church, 910 N.Limestone St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
