Sheriff's department investigating rash of vehicle break-ins
      The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported burglaries of five different vehicles in recent days. A vehicle parked in the 1700 block of Georgia Highway was broken into Jan. 3, between 7 a.m. and noon. County council applies for courthouse security system grant

      The Cherokee County courthouse is about to get a new security system - if the price tag doesn't exceed $80,000. County council on Monday agreed to apply for a grant that will pay for an electronic locking door and monitoring systems.

      The Cherokee County School District has posted this year's audit on its Web site. The 108-page comprehensive financial audit report (CAFR) can be accessed by clicking on "Finance Reports" under the Office of Finance and Operations section. The district's Web site is www.cherokee1.k12.sc.us.

Parris re-elected council chair
