Thanks for helping them with the light display

Dear Editor:

We want to let the people of Cherokee and Spartanburg counties know how much we appreciate all the support during the "Christmas on Pleasant Hill" light display and fund raiser in Blacksburg. Thanks to the generosity of these residents and others we were able to collect $830 in donations. This money was used to furnish Christmas dinners to those in need in addition to providing gifts for needy children for Christmas.

Our successful fundraising would not have been possible without the assistance of several businesses and individuals. My wife and I want to thank Mary Tessneer, Jeremy Childers and Matt Gordon of Gordon's Funeral Home for allowing us to set up our displays on their property.

We also would like to thank the following businesses for their support in donating materials: Wal-Mart of Gaffney, Lowes of Gaffney, Buford Street Ace Hardware, Norma's Truck Stop, Wayne Benton of Benton's Electric, Matt Hiers of Hiers Lawn Care and Upstate Signs of Gaffney.

We also want to thank The Gaffney Ledger and the Herald Journal for the publicity announcing the light display. A hearty thank you is in order for the following individuals for their time, efforts and talents to help bring the display together: Richard, Gwen and Matthew Sarratt and James Pearson and Mike Smith. We also would like to thank the residents of Cherokee Falls Road for their patience and understanding during our benefit.

It is our hope that we have not left anyone out. We sincerely thank you all for your contributions toward this worthy cause.

As this was our first year, we anticipate a larger display next year to once again benefit an organization for Christmas. We are now scouting for a larger venue for our show that will provide a suitable location as well as easy access. If anyone would like to volunteer a location for consideration please contact me at the number below.
