GHS players mulling over scholarship offers

Several players on the Gaffney High football team are attracting interest from college coaches.
Shrine Bowl linebacker J.B. Shippy will make an official visit to Liberty University in Virginia this weekend.
Shippy will also visit Gardner-Webb University on Jan. 18-20.
North-South All-Star selectee Johnny Woods is receiving interest from Hutcherson Junior College in Kansas and Georgia Military Junior College.
Another key member of the Indians' defense, defensive lineman Levor Ross, is hearing from Lenoir-Rhyne, Wingate and Middle Tennessee State.
Several players on the team's offensive unit also are garnering interest from colleges.
Joe Ben Frye, a 2-year starter at center, will likely visit Presbyterian College and former Byrnes High coach Bobby Bentley, while guard Robbie Peterson is attracting interest from Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate.
Offensive lineman Kevin Brockman, who missed the Shrine Bowl with a leg injury, is mulling over offers from several junior colleges.
Tight end David Dewberry, who was selected to play in the North-South All-Star Game, has been in contact with up-and-coming Southeastern Conference power Kentucky as well as Newberry.
Gaffney coach Phil Strickland said several other players are also hearing from colleges.
High school football players will begin signing their binding letters of intent on Wednesday, Feb. 6.
