Councilman questions makeup of Rec commission Cherokee County Councilman Bailey Humphries thinks the county should have a strong voice on the Cherokee County Recreation Department's governing board. Currently, the Town of Blacksburg, City of Gaffney and Cherokee County each appoint two members to the department's 7-member governing body. The commission's other member is appointed at large. Humphries told his fellow council members Monday they need more representation on the board. But that might not be so easy to accomplish. Cherokee County Interim Administrator Ben Clary told Humphries the makeup of the governing board is determined by state statute. Humphries then instructed county attorney Joe Mathis to research the relevant state statute. - Larry Hilliard |
