Some polling places have been combined for Jan. 19 and 26 presidential primaries

Poll workers don't like to work on Saturdays either.

The lack of poll workers has forced Cherokee County Election Commission officials to combine polling places for the Republican Party Primary scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19, and the Democratic Party Primary set for Saturday, Jan. 26.

The number of polling places has decreased from 33 to 13.

"It's just hard to get poll workers," said Cherokee County Election Commission Chairman Suzanne Turner.

Voters in 20 precincts will not vote at their normal polling places. The change only affects these presidential primaries.

Voters can check their precinct to know where to vote by visiting SCVotes.org and using the "Find Your Precinct" feature or by using the "Check Your Voter Registration" feature on the menu under "Voters."

Voters without access to the Internet can contact the voter registration office at (864) 487-2559.

Signs will also be posted at old polling places directing voters to the new polling place.

The change affects voters in the precincts listed at right. (If your precinct is not listed, then you will cast your ballot at your normal polling place.)
