Miss Lipsey, Mr. Simmons speak vows

Rebecca Lipsey and Jimmy Simmons exchanged marriage vows on Sept. 22, 2007, at Central Baptist Church. The Rev. David Toney officiated the 2 p.m. double ring ceremony. A reception, given by the bride's parents, followed in the church's Life Center.
A medley of music was provided prior to the ceremony. Jessica McAbee, cousin of the groom, sang "I Will Be Here" and "The Lord's Prayer."
The sanctuary was enhanced with an arrangement of roses, lilies, stock and greenery that cascaded from the baptistry. The pew were adorned with similar flowers and bows while hurricane globes adorned the windows. Candelabra, lighted ficus trees and ferns complemented the setting.
The bride and groom chose to light the unity candle to complete the circle of family and friends.
Escorted and given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white princess-style gown designed by Mori Lee. The strapless gown was enhanced with layers of tulle trimmed with beaded appliques. Her headpiece was a tiara of beads and pearls that held a veil of illusion. She carried a cascade bouquet of coral Osiana, jade green and yellow Judy roses with coral Asiatic lilies accented with ivy and fall greenery.
Anita Cantrell of Cowpens, sister of the bride, and Elizabeth Bolton of Gaffney, friend of the bride, were matrons of honor. Elizabeth Lee of Jonesville, niece of the bride, served as maid of honor. They were attired in sleeveless cocktail- length dresses of butter-colored satin and carried jade green, coral Osiana and yellow Judy roses in a satin stem-wrapped bouquet.
Bella Mabe, niece of the bride, served as flower girl and wore a white princess-style dress trimmed with appliques that matched those on the bride's gown. She carried a basket of roses petals.
Seth Simmons of Gaffney, son of the bride and groom, was ring bearer.
Greg Childers of Greenville, cousin of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Bill Lambright and Charlie Eubanks, both of Gaffney and friends of the groom.
Candle lighters were Allison Cantrell of Cowpens and Lea Ballard, of Denver, N.C., nieces of the bride. They were attired in tea-length butter colored chiffon dresses.
The guest register was attended by Heather Brown of Greenville, cousin of the groom. Programs were distributed by Jennifer McAbee of Charleston, cousin of the groom. Hannah Lee, niece of the bride, distributed wedding favors. Tina Ballard of Denver, N.C., sister of the bride, was the wedding director.
Mr. and Mrs. Simmons are making their home in Gaffney after a wedding trip to St. Thomas.
Mrs. Simmons is the daughter of Elbert and Betty Lipsey of Gaffney and granddaughter of Lizzie Harvey who resides at Brookview Health- Care. A 1993 graduate of Gaffney High School, she attended Liberty University and is employed by Yankee Candle.
Mr. Simmons is the son of Don and Gail Boggs of Greenwood. A 1987 graduate of Blacksburg High School, he attended Spartanburg Technical College and is employed by J. Frank Blakely Electrical Co.

A bridal tea was given by the bride's mother, sisters and nieces at the home of the bride.
A miscellaneous shower was given by the groom's mother and aunts at the home of his aunt in Greenville.
A miscellaneous shower was given by a friend of the bride, Janis Byars, at the bride's home.
A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents, Don and Gail Boggs, at the Marriott in Spartanburg.
