Barbara Smith
Worked with her sister for many years at Sans Souci Beauty Shop

Barbara O. Scott Smith, 89, of 310 Forest Lane Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at her residence.

Born in Belton, she was the widow of Lt. Col. Charles S. (Sid) Smith, who died on March 26, 1989, and was the daughter of the late Benjamin L. Scott and Mary Ragsdale Scott. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of LaDove Beauty School in Greenville, and worked with her sister, Zula McGraw, for many years at the Sans Souci Beauty Shop. She and her husband traveled during his military career and lived in England, Washington, D.C., and Sacramento, Calif. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Eastern Star and Fellowship Baptist Church in Honea Path. She loved to garden and bake.

She is survived by eight nieces and nephews, Eunice Hall of Taylors, B.F. Hopkins, Ellen Wright and Howard Scott, all of Honea Path, Vonnie Ellison of Cheddar, Ann Alverson, Johnnye Wood and Gerald Scott, all of Piedmont; and several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by three sisters, Maude Hopkins, Polly Baker and Zula S. McGraw, and four brothers, Dewey Scott, Aarron Scott, Clyde Scott and Adger Scott.

The family will receive friends today from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Russ Bradley. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.
