Carl Moore
S.C. National Guardsman for 35 years; worked with Cherokee County Veterans Affairs office

Carl C. Moore, 83, of 1380 Ellis Ferry Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at Brookview House.

Born in Gaffney, he was the beloved husband of Evelyn Sue Clary Moore and son of the late James Edward Moore and Nettie Dixon Moore. He was formerly employed with the South Carolina National Guard for 35 years and the Cherokee County Veterans Affairs office. He was a Mason and member of East Gaffney Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday School teacher.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Barry Moore and wife, Tammy, of Inman; a daughter, Sandra Lancaster and husband, John, of Roebuck; three grandchildren, Joshua Moore, Niki Millwood and Crystal Correll; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30- 2 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ron Jackson. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Gaffney Baptist Church Building Fund, 2308 Cherokee Avenue, Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
