Miss Smith, Rev. Owen wed Dec. 15

REV. AND MRS. ROBERT MARSHALL OWEN
Heather Anne Smith of Williamston and the Rev. Robert Marshall Owen of Blacksburg were united in marriage on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at Holly Ridge Baptist Church. The Rev. Michael Ware conducted the double ring ceremony at 2 p.m.

A reception, given by Dee Owen of Greenwood, followed at First Baptist Church of Blacksburg.

Music was provided by Suzanne Coggins, pianist; Matt Limbaugh, organist; and David Rowe, hammer dulcimer. Selections included Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel, Jesu, Joy of Man' Desiring by J.S. Bach, Bridal March from Lohengrin by Richard Wagner and Wedding March from A Midsummer Night's Dream by Felix Mendelssohn.

The church was adorned with traditional Christmas decorations and a profusion of poinsettias.

Escorted and given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a white satin gown trimmed with pearls. The fitted bodice featured a scoop neckline and the full skirt flowed into a chapel train. Her illusion veil was bordered with white ribbon and was handmade by her mother. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses enhanced with baby's breath.

Kerry Grubbs of Simpsonville attended the bride as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Nikki Smith of Fairplay, sister-in-law of the bride; Emily Smith of Belton, niece of the bride; Emilee Ware of Kings Mountain and Melissa Camp of Charleston, friends of the bride.

The attendants wore halter-style hunter green dresses featuring natural waistlines encircled with slim tie belts and floor--length A-line skirts. They carried white roses trimmed with baby's breath.

Terri Miller of Fairplay, niece of the bride, served as flower girl and wore a white sundress trimmed with lace. She carried a basket of white rose petals.

Austin Coates of Winnsboro was the ring bearer.

The groom had his father as best man. Groomsmen were Jimmy Owen Jr. of Greenwood, brother of the groom; Ritch Smith of Fairplay, brother of the bride; Tracy Sullen of Earl, N.C., and Brian Martin of Arden, N.C., friends of the groom.

Rev. and Mrs. Owen are making their home in Blacksburg after a honeymoon cruise to the Bahamas.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Earl Smith of Williamston. Her grandparents are the late Richard Smith, Theo Smith and Mildred Smith of Rockingham, N.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Thomas of Broadway, N.C. A graduate of Palmetto High School and North Greenville University, she is employed by Grace Christian Academy in Kings Mountain as a fifth grade teacher.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Owen Sr. of Blacksburg and grandson of Marshall Patterson of Blacksburg, the late Viola Patterson and the late Mr. and Mrs.Robert Owen. A graduate of Blacksburg High School, Limestone College and North Greenville University, he is an elder at Holly Ridge Baptist Church and employed by Millard Refrigerated Services in Gaffney.
