Xi Alpha Delta sorority plans service projects Xi Alpha Delta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held its monthly meeting Jan. 5 at Magnolia's of Gaffney. The president, Libby Reed, called the meeting to order and Ruth Ann Ohlsen led the opening ritual. Ten members answered the Greek roll call. The secretary, Patty Greene, read the minutes of the last meeting and after corrections, the minutes were approved. There were reports given from the officers and all committees. Ann Loftis reviewed article nine of the chapter by-laws. There were no reports from the membership and executive committees. For the December service project, money was allotted to buy heaters to be donated to those in need. For the service project for January, members will send cards, make calls and visits to chapter members who have been sick or just unable to attend meetings. The service project for February will be to buy a vest for a policeman. For ways and means, members will sponsor a raffle for a gas card. Libby Reed gave members new pages for their yearbook and pictures were given to Billie Taylor for the scrapbook. The social for January will be at Daddy Joe's Beach House BBQ on Monday, Jan. 21, at 6:30 p.m. Another social will be at the House of Pizza on Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. The chapter will crown the Valentine sweetheart at the dinner. After the business session, Libby Reed presented a program, "Health, Holistic Health, Vitality and Well Being." The program made members aware of the things that are important to health and aging healthy that included adopting a lifestyle that promotes peace of mind, adequate sleep, physical and mental health, and life enjoyment. Elements associated with this include diet, nutrition, exercise, effective support systems and adjusting to a changing body, mind and spirit. After the program, members were asked to tell about a "watermark" in their lives. A watermark can be an event or a person who has had a profound effect on one's life. Each member discussed a water mark in their life. After the closing ritual members enjoyed refreshments provided by Shirley Turner. The next meeting will be on Feb. 4 at the home of Billie Taylor. |
