Hettie Duncan
Retired from textiles
BLACKSBURG - Hettie Rose Mode Walker Duncan, 95, of 2114 Shelby Hwy., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in Cherokee County, she was the he widow of George Walker and William Duncan and daughter of the late John Walker Mode and Lucy Elizabeth Henderson Mode. She was retired from textiles and a member of Spirit of Life Ministry of Varnville, S.C.

Surviving are two sons, George Walker and wife, Cathy, of Rock Hill and Maynard Duncan of Gaffney; three daughters, Shirley Satterfield and husband, Doyle, of Walterboro, N.C., Brenda Matson and husband, Monte, of Gaffney and Wilma Duncan of the home; a special daughter and caregiver, Betty Midgette, of Gaffney; a special caregiver, Brenda Barben of Gaffney; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two greatgreat grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by a son, David Walker, six brothers and five sisters.

The family will receive friends today from 2-4 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Schaffer officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at the home of Monte and Brenda Matson, 115 Martin Lane, Gaffney.
