M.J. Phillips
Retired from Humphries Septic Tank Company

M.J. Phillips, 63, of 104 Broad Street, widower of Bertha Phillips, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 20, 2008, at his home.

A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of Ella Mae Phillips of Pittsburgh, Pa., and the late Ed Phillips. He was retired from Humphries Septic Tank Co. of Gaffney.

In addition to his mother he is survived by four daughters, Diane Petty, Patricia Phillips, Debra Phillips, all of Gaffney, and Alice Petty of Cliffside, N.C.; four sons, Ricky Phillips, Terry Phillips, Donald Davis, all of Gaffney, and Sammy Davis of Fayetteville, N.C.; eight sisters, Bertha Ratchford, Gloria Dean Tate, both of Gaffney, Doris Lucille Bristol of Henrietta, N.C., Rosie Lee Meek, Dianne Phillips, Linda Phillips, Flora Wilkins and Edith Condon, all of Pittsburgh; four brothers, Rufus Phillips, Richard Phillips, both of Gaffney, Oscar Phillips and George Phillips, both of Pittsburgh; 32 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family is at the home of his daughter, Patricia Phillips, 232 Camellia Circle, Westerly Park, Gaffney.
