Vehicle stolen from woman's driveway during morning warmup

A Fort Street woman's vehicle was stolen Friday morning in Gaffney while it was warming up in her driveway.

The woman told police the incident happened around 6:45 a.m. Her vehicle is a silver 2004 Chevrolet Ventura mini van which has a dent near its license plate. The plate number is South Carolina 478 WPM, according to a police report. The mini van is valued at about $10,000.

Payments stolen

Gaffney Police are investigating the theft of $396.71 in utility payments to the Gaffney Board of Public Works on East Frederick Street.

The thefts occurred between 5 p.m. on Jan. 13 and 7 a.m. on Jan. 14 from a night deposit box at the BPW building. Video surveillance camera footage and a list of the stolen deposits were turned over to police.

Man cut

A 32-year-old Pleasant School Road man suffered cuts on both forearms while fending off a knife-wielding robber late Thursday, according to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

The man told police that another man he knows only by first name knocked on his door Thursday evening and asked for money. When the victim refused, the alleged robber showed him a knife and said he would take it by force, according to the police report. The victim told police he fought off the robber, who then fled on foot.

Agreement reached

Gaffney police reported that a local man will have to repair lawn damage caused by a four wheeled vehicle on a nursing home's property.

According to a police report, Brookview Nursing Home on Thompson Street complained Thursday afternoon that a person on a "four wheeler" damaged its lawn. Police said they located the man who was driving the vehicle and that he agreed to either fix the lawn damage or pay to have it fixed within a reasonable amount of time. No charges were filed, according to the police report.

Chevrolet stolen

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of a 1996 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport car from a Connecticut Avenue property sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning.

The vehicle is burgundy with a gray leather interior and has 20-inch chrome rims and tinted windows. Its South Carolina license plate number is 245 WJR, according to a police report. The car is valued at about $8,000.

Gun, money stolen

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said $1,500 and a .38 caliber handgun were reported stolen from a Corinth Road home following a Wednesday evening burglary.

The burglar(s) broke a pane of glass in the front door of the home to gain entry. The handgun of unknown make was described in the police report as being silver in color, very old, and with a damaged barrel.
