Chapman rallies to nip Blacksburg, 48-46

It appeared the Blacksburg Wildcats were poised to post their first region win. But Chaz Proctor and Chapman had other ideas.
Proctor scored on a layup with :16 remaining as the Panthers displayed the fortitude to rally from five points down in the last four minutes to beat Blacksburg, 48-46.
The Wildcats remain winless in the region at 0- 7. They are 1-15 overall.
Jonathan Gelock, who had two 3s, and Dante Brown each had nine points to lead the Wildcats, who trailed 15-8 at the end of the first quarter.
Both teams struggled offensively in the second quarter. The Panthers mustered just six secondquarter points, while the Wildcats scored nine points in the quarter.
Trailing 21-17 at the half, the Wildcats went on a spurt to take a 32-31 heading into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats increased their advantage to five points in the fourth quarter before the Panthers went on a game-winning spurt.
The Panthers changed defenses, leading to several Blacksburg turnovers.
Ferdinand Sat had 14 points to lead the Panthers, who improve to 6-9 overall and 4-3 in the region.
Blacksburg travels to Woodruff on Tuesday to meet the Wolverines and former Gaffney assistant coach Mark Ireton.
In girls action, the Lady Wildcats scored the game's first four points but it was all Chapman after that. The Lady Panthers closed the first quarter on a 21-3 run en route to a 77-32 victory.
Brooke Davis had 16 points to lead Chapman, which improves to 7-0 in the region. The Lady Wildcats fall to 1-15 overall and 0-7 in region play.
