Blacksburg man run off road by angry driver A Blacksburg man's car rolled down an embankment on Saturday after he was chased and struck by an allegedly angry driver, according to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. Anthony Derrick Elliot, 27, of Blacksburg, and a passenger, Sandra Lynn McKinney, 23, of Spartanburg, claim they were pushed off Highway 198 near the state line by another vehicle that had been pursuing them for several miles, according to a police report. The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. when an unknown man and woman in a white Dodge Caravan got behind Elliot and McKinney near the Waffle House in Blacksburg at Exit 104 of Interstate 85. Elliot and McKinney told police the other car chased them on Interstate 85, onto Exit 102, and continued following them as they traveled on Highway 198 toward North Carolina. When Elliot and McKinney pulled their car over on a bridge on Highway 198 in North Carolina, they told police, the two people in the other car began beating their vehicle with a pipe, breaking windows. When Elliot attempted to drive back across the bridge into South Carolina, police were told, the other car struck Elliot's vehicle in the rear passenger side, forcing it off the road and down an embankment. Police reported Elliot and McKinney were taken to Cleveland Regional Hospital for treatment. |
