Gene Dimsdale
Former owner of Shelby Moving and Storage; retired from Overnite Trucking

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Eugene (Gene) Dimsdale, 70, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Dimsdale served in the U.S. Air Force and was of the Baptist faith. He was former owner of Shelby Moving and Storage, was retired from Overnite Trucking after 20 years of service and was a member of the Cleveland County Senior Golf Association.

A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Odell Dimsdale and Cordie McDaniel Dimsdale and was first married to the late Betty Dimsdale.

Mr. Dimsdale is survived by his wife, Elaine Taylor Davis Dimsdale; two sons, Bruce Alton Dimsdale of Casar, N.C., and Joseph Allen Dimsdale of Boiling Springs, N.C.; a sister, Sylvia Whitener of Forest City, N.C.; three brothers, Arnold Dimsdale of Charlotte, Morris Dimsdale and Steve Dimsdale, both of Rutherfordton, N.C.; four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

A memorial service was held at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, Jan. 13. Visitation was held at the funeral home following the service.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Meals on Wheels.
