Wildcats' offensive woes continue in setback to Woodruff
By LARRY HILLIARD Ledger Sports Editor larry@gaffneyledger.com

It was another game the Blacksburg Wildcats would like to forget.

The Wildcats scored the game's first five points, but Woodruff took charge after that to post a 64-50 victory Tuesday.

The Wildcats remain winless in the region at 0-8.

The Wolverines, who are coached by former Gaffney assistant Mark Ireton, ended the first quarter on a 15-0 run to lead 15-5 heading into the second quarter.

The Wolverines built their advantage to 30-18 at the break.

Woodruff led by as many as 15 points in the second half before the Wildcats cut the deficit to 9 with 1:30 to play. But that would be as close as Blacksburg would get.

Rashad Earls led the Wildcats with 19 points.

"Woodruff's transition offense was excellent," Blacksburg coach Travis Miller said. "Defensively, they did a good job and we struggled from the field."

Josh Elmore added 13 for Blacksburg, which travels to Carolina on Friday.
