16 youths take the stage Sunday at GLT
Fun abounds as Journey School students perform

What do you get when you add eight and eight? Sixteen, of course. And that's exactly what you get when eight elementary school children and eight middle school kids get together on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 3 p.m.

Journey School of the Arts takes to the stage at the Gaffney Little Theatre to present The Best of Journey, an afternoon of monologues, choral readings and short plays.

Fun, humor and charm fill the stage in the form of four short plays.

To Bee or Not to Bee is a confrontation between a bee (disguised as a chipmunk) and Mrs. Noah (from ark fame.) The bee is determined to board the ark as all God's creatures enter the safety zone and Mrs. Noah is just as determined to keep the bee off. A bee once stung her husband, but we can't say where. Madeline Clough appears as Mrs. Noah with Emily Singleton as the bee.

Donovan Davis and Kennedy Batchler perform a cutting from Scars and Stripes by Thomas C. Jones. A black boy and a white girl from two different worlds meet at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., as each try to find their father's names on the wall. This experience brings them to a new understanding of themselves and of each other.

Suzie and Her Sisters and the Socks that Stuck by Jeff Wood tells the story of three little girls that are so dependent on each other that three strange things happen to them. The sisters are played by Mara Singleton, Gillian Clough and Saxon Owens. Indy Singleton is the dog, Bop, and Ali Henderson is the narrator.

You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, is Clark Gesner's interpretation of the comic book characters. He brings Charlie Brown, Lucy, Schroeder, Linus, Snoopy and Patty together in a series of vignettes that prove the old saying: "Kids do the darndest things." The parts are played by Jeanna Burch, Megan Scruggs, Kasey Jackson, Colton Burch, Savannah White and Madeline Clough.

Emily Camp does a monologue from I Remember Mama and Colton Burch is seen as Sakini from Teahouse of the August Moon.

Tedi Gibbons directs the show with Emily Camp and Donovan Davis as the stage managers. Proceeds go to the GLT building fund.
