The Gaffney Police Department is sponsoring a blood drive today until 4:30 p.m. for the Piedmont Blood Center. The mobile unit is parked in front of City Hall. Moses Wood Camp, Sons of Confederate Veterans, will celebrate the birthdays of Robert E. Lee and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. The banquet was rescheduled and will be held at the Thickety Station Grill Saturday, Jan. 26, at 6:30 p.m. All members and guests are urged to attend. Church news Bethany Baptist Church, 215 Wilkinsville Hwy., will celebrate Baptist Men's Day Sunday, Jan. 27. The day will begin with a men's and boys' breakfast at 8:45 a.m. During the morning worship service at 11, there will be an all male choir. Testimonies will be given by Gary Bailey, Frank Hawkins, Elvin Henslee, Larry Gossett and Brad Medley. For more information, call the Rev. Roger W. Ham, pastor, at 488-5553. Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, 109 School St., Cherokee Falls, will have a singing Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. featuring CrosStar. Northside Baptist Church, corner of North Logan and Holland streets, will have revival services Jan. 30-Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. The Reggie Saddler Family will be preaching and singing. "Sunday Night Live" will be held Jan. 27 featuring the Rev. Michael B. Henderson at the Super 8 Motel in Gaffney. Harris Baptist Church will have a gospel singing Sunday at 2 p.m. featuring the Servants Quartet of Union Mills, N.C., and Darin Aldrige and Brook Justice of Cherryville, N.C. The bi-annual meeting of the Friends of Sardis Church Cemetery Inc. will be held Jan. 26 at 2:30 p.m. in the church fellowship building. Mt. Mt. Tabor Baptist Church will celebrate the ninth pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Darrell and Tonya Smith this weekend. The celebration will begin Saturday at 6 p.m. with a singing and continue Sunday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Antonio Smith of Gowdeyville Baptist Church bringing the message. The celebration will end with a program at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Willie Johnson of Calvary Baptist Church, Greenwood, as guest speaker. Both speakers will be accompanied by their choir and congregation. Senior Center events A basic pool class for women will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 1-2 p.m. at the Gaffney Senior Center, 499 W. Rutledge Ave. John Gimbel will be the instructor. Call Linda at 487-2725 to register. The "Hooks and Needles with Love" group will meet Monday, Jan. 28, from 10:30- 11:30 a.m. at the Gaffney Senior Center and work on knitting and crocheting hats. Cherrill Moshier of Shelby will have an "Introduction to Art" class Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Gaffney Senior Center. Bring your own supplies, whether sketching, painting, chalk, watercolors, oil, canvas, etc., and join others in learning to express you creativity. Classes will continue on the first and third Tuesdays of each month and will be $5 per class. Call Linda, 487- 2725, to register. Notices The Cherokee County Public Library has announced that the January and February basic computer classes have been filled. "The response was fantastic," said Lana Gardner, library director. Gardner said that more classes will be offered in March. Information about the March class dates will be announced later. |
