Richard Rains
Self-employed salesman; former professional wrestler

James Richard Rains, 69, formerly of Blacksburg, passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Emlyn, Ky., he was the husband of Janice Kay Roberts Rains and son of Susie Jane Steely Rains of Spring Hill, Fla., and the late Marion Wallace Rains. He was

a self-employed salesman

and a former professional wrestler. Mr. Rains was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and of the Baptist faith.

Also surviving are a son, Jeff Rains of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Rodney Rains, and a sister, Louise Jackson, both of Spring Hill, Fla.; one granddaughter, Kaelyn Rains; and several nephews and nieces.

In addition to his father, Mr. Rains was preceded in death by a son, Mark Allan Rains, and a niece, Judy Rains.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10- 11 a.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorial services will immediately follow with Pastor Phillip Roberts officiating.

The family will be at the residence, 131 Baker Road.
