Frances J. Willis Frances Thompson Johnson Willis, 80, formerly of 115 W. O'Neal St., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. Born in Gaffney, she was the the widow of David Johnson and Dan Willis, and daughter of the late L.V. Thompson and Jesse Mae Largent Thompson. She was a retired nurse from Cherokee Memorial Hospital and Mary Black Memorial Hospital and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Edwin Keith Johnson and wife, Joette, of Gaffney; and two grandchildren, David Andrew Johnson and Joseph L.V. Johnson. In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Willis was preceded in death by a son, Theron Bennett, and two brothers, Lamar Thompson and Hubert Thompson. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens with Dr. Wofford Caughman officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to McCarthy-Teszler, 175 Burdette St., Spartanburg, S.C. 29307.
