"This is just the beginning of great things to come." - John Travers
Miracle Hill Rescue Mission through the years has made an impact in the community, giving the homeless and those suffering from drug addiction a path toward change in their lives.

After completing its endowment campaign, the local nonprofit organization likely will have the opportunity to help even more people.

Miracle Hill will celebrate the end of the journey Wednesday by presenting a check for $100,750 to the Cherokee County Community Foundation (CCCF).

"We are excited to announce the completion of this campaign," Miracle Hill media coordinator Elizabeth Davis said. "People within the organization such as Janet Yusi dreamed about this day… now it is here."

For six months, the organization asked supporters and special friends of the ministry to sow a special gift specifically toward the campaign. With the help of 11 endowment donors and partners, as well as seven "Miracle Makers" - friends of the ministry who included the organization in their will or gave at least $5,000 - the goal was met.

"Their gifts really made a difference," Davis said.

The seven "Miracle Makers" will be honored at a press conference at the Miracle Hill Rescue Mission.

The funds will be kept in the community to help support operations at Miracle Hill.

The CCCF will create a donor-advised fund to channel 4 percent of the interest earned per year to the nonprofit organization.

"We are happy (Miracle Hill) chose our organization to help them as they continue in the business of helping others," John B. Travers, Cherokee County Community Foundation Board of Trustees chairman, said. "This is just the beginning of great things to come."

The CCCF was created in 1994 with the purpose to assist donors in making charitable gifts to the community, providing services for nonprofit organizations such as Miracle Hill to create new or manage existing endowments and to help make grants for new projects.

The press conference in which the endowment check and the seven "Miracle Makers" are to be honored is to take place Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Miracle Hill's Rescue Mission on Henderson St.
